As someone who was born after the 80's and has no horrific memories of velvet at its cheesy best i have thrown myself into the resurgence of the velvet as 1. its ridiculously warm and 2. it makes colours look beautiful and rich and therefore has something distinctively festive about it. this particular playsuit is from topshop and worn with some ollllllld H&m lace top i got in the sales once and a necklace twisted to serve as a belt.

i only recently began to truly appreciate urban outfitters. the first few times i went into the one on oxford street i didnt immediatly "identify" with the kinda layed back American style that dominates but on the about fifth occasion i went there i started finding some seriously good pieces with the major plus point being that you are less likely to bump into people wearing the same clothes as you compared to topshop. i really like their quilted bags and also recently bought a lovely pair of loafers from there. this particular dress is from the urban renewal range which i think is a great idea in itself. each dress is made out of vintage material which is then redesigned by young fashion students, making it a unique piece of fashion that also promotes young talent!

This skirt is from Topshop and made from real ostrich feathers. I got it on one of my regular trips to the Oxford Circus brand and bought it even though the zipper is broken. It's a really delicate colour and loses some of its feathers after a while but is a beautiful piece of design thatworks particularly well with this beaded and sequined top from Topshop.

This skirt though extremmmmmmly short has one of my favourite prints. At first glance the pansy print looks quite ordinary but when you look closer there are little skulls printed in the middle of each flower. This skirt is from the summer topshop collection which i have to say i really enjoyed, lots of different prints and shapes.

This is pretty much the most expensive dress i own but the detail in it is amazing and i think it's a dress i will be able to wear for many more years to come. I literally had to fight for it when the collection launched and only by chance found one on an abandoned rail as everything else was sold out within the first 5 minutes! you can of course dress it up but i prefer the more casual look for this dress. for some reason a simple h&m jeans jacket seems to really do it for this dress!
